Modern human existence and technology have crescendoed to the point of no return. We have mediated emotional relationships through emoticons, smart phone brain power overload, and our military sitting behind desks playing with remote control robots and airplanes. It is the artist’s task to take these tools and breath life into them again, to question intentions, and turn the frequency knobs to find the balance between heartbeats and technological beeps.
Michelle Graves is an interdisciplinary artist who uses stream of conscious text, anatomy, and technology as concept and material. Graves has exhibited her work nationally and internationally since 1997. She is currently the Program Director and an instructor at Digital Bootcamp, Chicago and teaches Photoshop for Motion Graphics at Columbia College Chicago.
