Bio: Kirk Nelson is a Research Fellow at the Internet Innovation Center at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He holds a master’s degree in business economics from the University of Delaware. In addition to his research and teaching at SGI, Nelson has co-authored more than 100 papers and book chapters and has served as the recipient of the Society for General Business Research award in the growth industry area for services. In addition to teaching, Nelson has been on faculty at Stanford, Stanford International Business School, the University of South Dakota, and the University of California, Berkeley.

Jackie Larocca is a director in SGI’s Center for Impact Driven Digital Media, where she leads both online and in-person events in the region and worldwide that help global companies navigate and turn data-driven innovation into growth and success. She has led and facilitated several digital conferences at SGI for clients ranging from Microsoft to Deloitte. Prior to joining SGI, she served as a research manager at the US Navy’s Center for Maritime Research and Development in Philadelphia and as an information security fellow at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, Calif. She is a regular panelist on the cybersecurity and health care and public safety panels at DefCon, while co-organizing the Silicon Valley Society for Prevention and Early Intervention’s annual CyberWeek.
